Course overview

We offer several options to learners depending on their individual needs. You can attend either the revision day, mock assessment day, or both.

On the first day, we provide an overview of the AM2/S assessment and its coverage. We then focus on revision related to the areas assessed in AM2/S, and we direct you to further revision resources. In the afternoon, we provide hands-on practice in the workshop for installation elements, testing, and/or fault finding, depending on your priorities.

On the second day, you will complete the mock assessment, which will require you to carry out various installations, inspection and testing, and fault-finding timed tasks, covering the breadth of skills required to pass AM2/S. At the end of the day, we will give you a recommendation on your readiness to sit AM2/S, along with detailed feedback on areas that may require further support from your employer or training provider.

  • What will I learn in this course?

These sessions are for revision and assessment rather than learning. All technical content should have been covered over the course of the apprentice’s Level 3 technical certificate.

    • Format of AM2/S test sections
    • Safe Isolation
    • Risk Assessment
    • Cable termination techniques
    • Three-phase inspection and testing, including certification
    • Fault finding methods
  • Course Assessment

There is no formal assessment on this course but feedback is given on a candidate’s performance and their readiness for AM2/S when they attend the Day 2 Mock Assessment.

  • Who is this course for?

These sessions are designed for apprentices who are ready to complete NET gateway checks for end-point-assessment. All aspects of their Level 3 technical certificate should be completed. Candidates should have a level of knowledge appropriate to this point of their training programme. This should cover installation practices, inspection & testing and fault finding.

  • What qualifications will I earn?

There is no qualification associated with this course, but it will provide a measure of a candidate’s readiness to sit the AM2/S.

  • Course books required

None but the following books may be useful for further revision: BS7671:2018 (Amendment 2 2022) IET 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, On-Site Guide and Guidance Note 3.
