Course overview

The Level 2 and 3 Diploma is the first step for adults and career changers wishing to become an electrician through self-funding. Prior electrical experience or employment in the electrical sector is not required. All the knowledge units required to become a competent electrician are included, which mirrors the knowledge covered in the full apprenticeship.

A combination of classroom and workshop-based learning will be provided throughout the course to establish a strong foundation for those looking to enter or advance within the electrical industry. We offer both Level 2 and Level 3 courses simultaneously to ensure a comprehensive development of knowledge and skills.

Upon successful completion, you should be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the knowledge and skills required to become an electrician.

Course Assessment

Each unit has an online exam, practical assessment, written assignment, or a combination of all three.
Who is this course for ?
- This course is for anyone who wishes to take the self-funded route to becoming an electrician.
- No prior experience is required and there is no need to be working in the industry during this step. Completion of the course can help employment prospects within the electrical industry. Employment in the sector will be required to complete the NVQ and AM2 needed to become a qualified electrician.
- The qualification is technical in nature and delegates should have a sound understanding of maths to ensure the best chance of completing the course.
- The minimum age requirement is 16.
What qualifications will I earn?

EAL 600/6724/X Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installation and EAL 600/9331/6 Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installation.

Course Timings

The course is delivered one day per week, over a period of fifty weeks at our Gloucester training centre. There are also assignments and homework to be completed between sessions.

There will be some term breaks for Easter, Christmas and the summer holidays.

Where will my training course take place?

All short courses take place at the Clarkson Evans Training Centre located in Meteor Business Park, Cheltenham Road East, GL2 9QL.
What happens if I don’t pass an exam or assessment?

The initial course fee covers the cost of the first attempt at a course exam or practical assessment. If you are unsuccessful on your first attempt, we will advise you on how to request a resit and inform you about the associated cost.
